Biography

Gary W. Brown is Senior Counsel to McCandlish & Lillard, P.C, and a former Principal and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors.  His areas of concentration include medical malpractice, legal malpractice, product liability, and employment discrimination. After completing military service in the United States Navy Judge Advo­cate General Corps in 1970, he entered the private practice of law in the Washington, D.C. area and has been continuously engaged in the private practice of law with an active civil trial practice in the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia area.  Mr. Brown is also a trained and experienced arbitrator and mediator.

Gary has been active in committee work for the D.C. Bar and has lectured at D.C. Bar programs, as well as Virginia CLE programs. He has lectured extensively in D.C. and Virginia and has authored several book chapters. He serves as Trustee of the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation.  He is also a past Co-President of the Northern Virginia chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and serves on the Fairfax, Virginia Advisory Board for the Salvation Army. He is active in and a former Vestry member of the Falls Church Anglican.

Gary is also a member of the District of Columbia Defense Lawyers Association (Presi­dent 1983-84, Lawyer of the Year 1996); Virginia Defense Lawyers Associa­tion; Defense Research Institute; American Health Lawyers Association; International Academy of Trial Lawyers; and American Trial Lawyers Association. He is a former adjunct professor at both the George­town University Law Center and Medical Center.
