McCandlish Lawyer Selected Fellow of Virginia Law Foundation
Fairfax, Va., Nov. 15, 2010—The law firm of McCandlish Lillard is pleased to announce that the Virginia Law Foundation has selected, R. Peyton Mahaffey to become a Fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation for 2011. Induction will be held in conjunction with the Virginia Bar Association’s Annual Winter meeting in Williamsburg, Virginia, January 20, 2011. This honor is conferred on Virginia lawyers of integrity and character who are outstanding in their profession and in their communities. The Fellows program is an important component of the mission of the Virginia Law Foundation. The community service performed by individual Fellows and their contributions to the Foundation all advance the public service goals of the Foundation.
Mr. Mahaffey is the President of McCandlish Lillard, and has actively litigated business, corporate and commercial matters on a continuing basis since 1980. He has broad experience as a trial lawyer and lead counsel in state and federal cases, as well as in arbitration and mediation. He has tried numerous jury and non-jury cases, written and argued several appellate briefs to the Virginia Supreme Court and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and has been the principal attorney on a number of reported state and federal decisions.
